You’ve got Invisalign questions. Well, we’ve got answers. We’ve compiled a list of the queries we hear most frequently from our prospective patients.
Invisalign relies on some cool orthodontic technology. Based on a 3D model of your teeth we create with our iTero Scanner, clear, BPA-free, plastic aligners are custom-made for you. They’re designed to fit your unique mouth and the individual treatment plan as specified by Dr. Proano Wise. You pop in a new set aligners every two weeks and each set incrementally shifts your teeth until they settle into their final position.
Most patients will feel temporary discomfort for a few days after putting in a new set of aligners. The pressure and ache is mild and believe it or not it’s a good sign! It means your teeth are shifting and soon you can reveal a perfect smile.
One of the best things about Invisalign is it’s virtually invisible! So unless someone gets super close to your mouth, no one will be able to tell your straightening your teeth. The aligners are smooth and clear, so it can be your little secret.
You shouldn’t smoke while wearing Invisalign because it can stain your aligners. When they’re discolored, they’ll no longer be clear and undetectable.
Nope. You can eat whatever your heart desires during Invisalign treatment. Woohoo! Since the aligners are removable, you’ll take them out to eat, brush your teeth after your meal or snack and then put them back in.
While chewing gum with the aligners in will cause a mess, as it will stick to them, you can chew gum when you take the aligners out at mealtime.
For maximum results, you need to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours every day. So basically, you’ll have them in all of the time except when you remove them to eat and brush and floss.
Most patients experience no effect on their speech. But it takes a few days to get used to having something in your mouth so there’s a possibility you’ll notice a difference in your speech for a day or two. Once you adjust, your speech will go back to normal.
It’s simple. Brush your Invisalign aligners before rinsing them with lukewarm water.
Wise Braces will let you know exactly how often you’ll need to come in for appointments throughout treatment based on your individual needs. However, most patients see us every four to six weeks so we can make sure they’re on track.
While Invisalign can correct underbites, crossbites, spacing, crowding and overjet, it depends on your specific case. Invisalign may not work for every patient so you’ll want to stop in for a complimentary consultation to see if you’re a good candidate.
